Process

How auto transport actually works.

A clear, no-jargon walkthrough of every step from quote to delivery.

How it works

From quote to driveway in five steps.

Built around the way the auto-transport industry actually moves. No surprises, no hidden steps.

1. Quote

Tell us your route and vehicle. We come back with a transparent, all-in price.

2. Book

Lock in your price with a small refundable deposit. No charge until a carrier is assigned.

3. Pickup

An FMCSA-licensed carrier arrives in your pickup window and signs the BOL.

4. Track

Direct line to the driver plus updates from your Skywest Transport specialist door to door.

5. Deliver

Final inspection, sign-off, and balance paid on delivery. Done.

Step 1.

Get your quote

Submit pickup city, delivery city, vehicle year/make/model, transport type (open or enclosed), and earliest available date. Our quote is all-in: pickup, transport, and delivery. No fuel surcharge added later. Carrier insurance is provided by the assigned carrier under their own policy.

Step 2.

Book your shipment

Quoted price locks in when you book. A small refundable deposit is charged after a carrier is assigned, not before. The only thing that changes a quote post-booking is inaccurate vehicle info.

Step 3.

Carrier assignment

We post your shipment to our vetted network. Before we dispatch a carrier we confirm active FMCSA authority, current auto liability and cargo insurance on file, and a satisfactory FMCSA SAFER record. You get the driver name, direct phone, and confirmed pickup window. Coverage and limits are set by the assigned carrier's active policy.

Step 4.

Pickup

On pickup day the driver arrives in the confirmed window, performs a detailed condition inspection, documents pre-existing damage, and both parties sign the Bill of Lading.

Step 5.

In transit

Direct phone contact with the driver plus check-ins from your Skywest Transport specialist. Most US lanes deliver in 1-7 days depending on distance and route popularity.

Step 6.

Delivery and final inspection

Final inspection, sign-off on the BOL, and balance paid to the driver on delivery (cash, certified check, or Zelle). If anything goes wrong, we'll help you file a claim against the carrier's insurance and stay in the loop until it's resolved.
