Frequently asked questions.
The questions first-time shippers ask most often. Don't see yours? Call us at (407) 279-9538.
How much does it cost to ship a car?+
Pricing depends on distance, route popularity, transport type (open vs enclosed), vehicle size, and timing. Submit the quote form for an all-in number.
How long does shipping take?+
Most US lanes deliver in 1-7 days after pickup. Cross-country routes typically take 7-10 days.
How does insurance work during transport?+
Coverage is provided by the assigned carrier under their active auto liability and cargo insurance policy. We verify policy status before dispatch and share the carrier's certificate of insurance on request. Skywest Transport is a licensed broker (we do not own trucks or issue insurance), so any claim is filed against the carrier's policy. We'll help you coordinate the claim and keep records from booking through delivery.
When do I pay?+
A small refundable deposit is charged after a carrier is assigned. The balance is paid directly to the driver on delivery via cash, certified check, or Zelle.
What is a Bill of Lading?+
The BOL is the official transport contract and vehicle condition report. It's signed by both driver and customer and is the legal record for any damage claim.
Can I track my vehicle?+
Most carriers provide direct driver contact. Your Skywest Transport specialist will check in with the driver and forward updates. We are reachable 24/7 for active shipments.
Do you ship non-running vehicles?+
Yes, but it must be disclosed at quote time. Non-runners require a winch-equipped truck, which is a different price point.
Open vs enclosed: which do I need?+
Open is the standard, ~95% of vehicles ship this way. Enclosed costs more but is the right call for classics, exotics, low-clearance, or any vehicle where weather and road debris matter.
